What Is Tallow?

What is tallow? Long story short, it's beef fat!

Why are we putting it on our face, then? Great question, we'd love to tell you!

Yes, Tallow is beef fat. But it's fat that has been purified and cleaned.

Out of all the things you can put on your face, we believe tallow is at the very top of the list!

Using tallow for skincare is a centuries old technique, but it's just now starting to soar in popularity again.

Fats, along with proteins, are essential building blocks for every cell membrane, including the skin. They provide energy, help absorb minerals, and carry a wealth of vitamins.

Tallow contains the same fats or lipids found in  human skin. Lipids are beneficial because they create a protective, yet permeable barrier that prevents infection, maintains moisture, flexibility and structure of the cell.

Tallow is extremely compatible with the oil that our skin naturally produces. It actually shares a similar biology. That’s one of the reasons why our skin is able to use tallow so effectively.

Tallow is believed to prevent dryness at the cellular level without suffocating the skin's barrier.

Beef tallow, rendered from grass-fed cattle, is loaded with vitamins A, D & K and antioxidants. One of which is vitamin E, known to promote rejuvenation of the skin by fighting free radicals that can cause wrinkles.

The natural antimicrobial properties in tallow help to prevent acne and breakouts. Tallow also contains powerful anti inflammatory properties.
